Minor Defilement: Allow the law to take it course, CAIDOV Urges Baba Ijesha colleagues

Colleagues of popular thespian and alleged rapist, Lanre Omiyinka a.k.a Baba Ijesha have been urged to allow the law to take its course in the matter instead of the emotional outburst on social media platforms.

The advise was given on Saturday in Lagos by an anti violence group, Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press release signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, stating that the allegations against the actor is grave and only a competent court can make pronouncement on his culpability or otherwise.

The CAIDOV boss condemned the actor for getting himself in such shameful act and appeals to his colleagues both in support and against him to allow the court of law dispense justice on the matter as quick as possible , to serve as deterrent to others.

According to him"the allegations of rape or child molestation is a grave offence in law, we condemn the actor for engaging in such. It's a shameful act coming from someone who should be a role model. But worrisome is the attempt by his colleagues in the theatre industry to take sides on the matter, we are of the candid opinion that they should allow the court to adjudicate on the matter as it remains the only lawful authority to deal with such. "

"Vituperation  from both sides won't change the course of justice so, the theatre practitioners should give peace a chance by allowing the court to make pronouncement on his culpability or otherwise.

On this matter, no one is above the law and we are confident that justice will be served at the end of the day as we are monitoring closely events as they unfold", the group said

Finally, the group commended the leadership of the Lagos State Police command for the diligent investigation so far conducted on the matter, charging them not to leave any stone unturned to unravel the truth about the case as there are series of divergent speculation flying around over the matter.
