MARGINALIZATION IN IMEKO-AFON

After we have congratulated our brother that has just been nominated as commissioner designate in Ogun State, we can now address the salient issues in Imeko-Afon politics.

We have no grudge against individuals that have been elected or appointed to political offices but it’s necessary we point out what is not going well.

Political offices are meant to be shared among the units that make up the entity, wards that form a local government, local governments that form a state and among states that form a country, to ensure and sustain peaceful co existent among the people. Why is Imeko-Afon case different.

We already have two elected political office holders from Imeko town alone out of the three elected political office holders in the local government of 10 wards. The Council Chairman and Member, Federal House of Representative are from Imeko and only the Member representing out state constituency at state assembly is from Afon.

How fair is this arrangement to the people of the other 9 wards, the person that will represent us at the state executive council is also from Imeko ward where we already have two elected officers and an SA to the governor.

This arrangement does not show any sign of sincerity of inclusiveness in Imeko-Afon Local Government politics.

I don’t know if other wards are comfortable with this type of arrangement in Imeko-Afon Local Government but for us in Zone 4, we are not happy and we will protest under our right.
