Agege: Egunjobi’s Magic Hands

Yogi Adityanath in his words said and I quote that “ People had lost trust in governance. Getting back that trust, instilling a sense of hope and belief that good governance and development would be back on track, is my biggest achievement.”

The above expression best captioned the situation in Nigeria between the government and the governed. Not even a day old baby trust our representatives at all levels due to ineffectiveness and failure of the past, the disappointments are enormous.

But, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu kola Egunjobi (JP) is fixing the future through the present. I had the opportunity in the company’s of two among the aides to the Rt. Honorable speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa on a courtesy visit.

The energetic and dynamic Egunjobi used the opportunity to take us around the ‘new’ Agege local government and painstakingly explained the reasons for his decision to rebrand the local government and the value Agege is known for.

Aside the facelift, he added several new innovations into the local government councils for the benefits of the staffs and general public.

So, Agege Local Government under the led administration of Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Egunjobi now has thus;

• A standard legislative building (that can compete with state assemblies) with befitting offices for the legislators.

• A world class gym center.

• A physiotherapy unit.

• Table tennis section.

• Ultra modern judiciary building.

• Hygienic cafeteria.

• Promotion of cultural values and premium placed on Agege bread.

• Snooker unit.

All these shows that the magic hands of Egunjobi is amazing because the infrastructural facelift of Agege Local Government is the first of its kind in Nigeria. This is really an “ultra modern” edifice, I must say.

In his words, “ When I was campaigning, I made it known that, re-engineering of Agege will be paramount on my agenda. And that is exactly what we are doing and we will keep doing, ours is not a usual government but a renewed and 21st century compliant administration.”
