At the yearly stakeholders’ meeting of the Lagos state house of assembly, Hon. Kehinde Joseph has said he will continue helping and giving back to his constituents.
In his speech “ Today , I will be giving fifty people of Alimosho constituency ‘02 One hundred thousand naira each to support their businesses. This is my own dictionary meaning to ‘palliatives’ in addition to the one I did during the lock down.”
“ The pandemic is still very much with us and it’s effects is still telling in our lives , and also , no thanks to the unrest resulted from the intended peaceful #EndSars protest which has its tolls on people’s businesses. So, as your representative, i would not turn a blind eye to this, I must act too.”
On his part, ACP Ifeanyi, the area commander of Area ‘M’ police station Idimu, Alimosho commended the organizer of the stakeholders’ meeting and urged the youth to be polite and act responsibly in their dealings.
According to him, “ I’m so pained and disappointed on how some youth reacted or behaved during the unrest as as result of #EndSars peaceful protest which was later hijacked.” How can a reasonable individual (youth ) went about demolishing his own heritage? Burning police stations and killing police men.. Yes, there are bad eggs in the force but we have it also in the other professions. Is the destruction of public properties then the solution to #EndSars or
to give way for police reform”, he queried?
“If you burn down Area ‘M’ police command- how will that be a personal loss to me? No. The effect will be on you and the community and more so, the money that should have been channeled to other projects would be used for re-building.”
“If you attack all the policemen in your community who then will be protecting you? Channel your energy to constructive engagement with the government. You burnt down people’s offices all in the name of a protest, are those people treating you bad also?
ACP Ifeanyi however, urged the youth to use more intellectual means to engage the government.
This year stakeholders’ ‘meeting is themed Post COVID-19 pandemic: The challenges and prospects.
